How we rate bookmakers

Every rating is out of ten and built from five parts. The rubric is fixed; the score changes only when the facts do.

1. Licence and trust (gate, then 2 points)

A bookmaker must hold a Gambling Commission remote operating licence to be listed at all. Within that, we look at published regulatory actions, ownership transparency and how long the brand has operated in Britain.

2. Odds and markets (3 points)

Depth of football and racing markets, coverage of other sports, availability of in-play betting, cash out and live streaming, and the operator's own stated margins where published. We do not run our own odds comparison; where a figure is quoted it is the operator's.

3. App and site (2 points)

Native apps on iOS and Android, speed of bet placement, and whether the account, limits and self-exclusion tools are easy to reach.

4. Payments (2 points)

Deposit methods, minimum deposit, fees, and the documented withdrawal time. Only figures the operator publishes count. A bookmaker that publishes no withdrawal time is shown as "not documented" and receives no payout credit, rather than a guessed number.

5. Safer gambling (1 point)

Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and GamStop integration are legal requirements; the point goes to operators that make them prominent and easy.

What never counts

Commission. Advertising spend. Whether the operator has an affiliate programme at all. The offer size: an offer is shown with its terms, not scored.

Dates

Each review shows the date its facts were last verified. Licences are re-checked against the register on a schedule; a bookmaker whose licence lapses is removed the same day it is found.
