Local betting landscape

What is legal
Licensed online betting and casino. Unlicensed operators are blocked from payments and prohibited from advertising.
Rules that matter to players
Minimum age 18. Spelpaus, the national self-exclusion register, applies to every licensee. Operators may offer one bonus per customer at registration and no more. Deposit limits must be set before play.
Advertising and affiliates
Advertising must be “moderate”, a statutory standard Spelinspektionen and the consumer agency enforce. Affiliates are permitted but the operator is responsible for their compliance, and licensed operators may only work with affiliates that promote licensed operators.
Tax
Operators pay 22 per cent of gross gaming revenue (raised from 18 per cent in 2024). Winnings from licensed operators are tax-free.
