Local betting landscape
Spain licenses online betting and casino nationally under the DGOJ, but Royal Decree 958/2020 bans most gambling advertising, limits welcome offers to existing customers, and prohibits affiliate marketing as a channel. Winnings above a threshold are taxed.

Law 13/2011 created a national licensing regime alongside regional licences for land-based gambling. The DGOJ publishes licensed operators and enforces the advertising decree.
Rules that matter to players
Minimum age 18. RGIAJ is the national self-exclusion register. Welcome offers may not be advertised to new customers; bonuses are permitted only for customers with accounts older than 30 days who have completed identity verification.
Advertising and affiliates
Royal Decree 958/2020 restricts broadcast advertising to 1am to 5am, bans sponsorship on sports shirts and stadium names, and prohibits affiliate marketing. The Supreme Court struck down parts of the decree in 2024, but the affiliate prohibition remains in operation as the DGOJ applies it. This site does not recommend operators for Spain.
Tax
Winnings above €1,600 in a year must be declared as income. Operators pay 20 per cent of gross gaming revenue nationally (10 per cent in Ceuta and Melilla).
