Local betting landscape
Belgium licenses online betting and casino, but only to operators holding a land-based licence, and since July 2023 has banned almost all gambling advertising, with affiliate marketing among the prohibited channels. The minimum age for casino games rose to 21 in 2024.

Belgium’s online licences are extensions of land-based ones: a casino needs an A licence to get an A+ online licence, and so on, which keeps the market small and Belgian.
Rules that matter to players
The minimum age is 21 for casino games, slots and (since 2024) online betting and 18 for lotteries. EPIS is the national exclusion register. A weekly deposit limit of €200 applies by default.
Advertising and affiliates
A Royal Decree in force since 1 July 2023 bans gambling advertising on television, radio, in print, outdoors, on social media and through influencers, with narrow exceptions; sponsorship is being phased out by 2028. Affiliate marketing is prohibited. This site does not recommend operators for Belgium.
Tax
Operators pay 11 per cent of gross gaming revenue. Winnings are not taxed.
